South Grenville Ranger report


Novice C2 won the B finals in a one-day tournament in Carleton Place on December 28.

Novice C2 brought home a win on the road December 19 against Kemptville. The 4-2 victory included two goals by Parker Dake, and a goal each for Michael Worden and Hayden Bernier-Aimer. Assists by Isabel Curry, Hayden Bernier-Aimer, Ben Halladay and Oliver Davidson. Great goaltending by Gavin Longtin once again.

C2 had a tough loss against Brockville 3-1. It was a great game played by all, most noticeably the defence who especially worked hard the entire game and Gavin Longtin who made a number of impressive saves. The lone goal came from Parker Dake.

Novice B1 played an exciting game December 16 against Brockville ending in a 1-1 tie. The Rangers' goal was scored by Kayleb Fleming early in the second period. It was another outstanding performance by goalie Callum Smith. All of the Rangers contributed to a stellar defensive game!!

On Friday, December 30, the Novice B Team 2 Rangers played in their second tournament of the season in Carleton Place. They opened with a big 8-0 win against Carleton Place Kings B2. Their second game came against Cumberland Thor, again a big win for the Rangers, this time with a 9-0 score. In the "A" finals, the Rangers were up against Carleton Place Kings B1. The final game saw the Rangers pulling off the third win of the Tournament to take home the "A" champs trophy.


The SG Midget B House 3 had another successful weekend December 18 in Nepean. The team went undefeated in the round robin to finish first in their pool. After winning the quarterfinal game, they lost a very exciting game in the semifinals 4-3 in double overtime (to SG 2). Midget B 3 moved on to the B Finals and won. The team headed into the Christmas break first in their division in league play with a record of 15-1-1.

For their last 2016 hockey, SG Midget B 3 participated in a one-day tournament in Richmond on December 30. They finished the day as the "A" consolation champs. The team is back in action January 8 in Prescott at 7:30 p.m.


On Thursday, December 22, the South Grenville Peewee C1 team played the South Grenville C2 team. After a fast-paced first period, the score was 2-1 for C2. A scoreless second period had the spectators on edge. C1 team came back in the third period, with three goals, for a 4-2 win. Goals by Hayden Wood and Brandon Adams. Assists by Brandon Adams, Xavier Carson and Brooke Vanasseldonk (ap).
