Zombie walk set to raise spirits on Saturday in Prescott

PRESCOTT - An infection is beginning to spread in the quiet town of Prescott...

On Saturday, October 28, the second Annual Zombie Walk brings the dead to life, as zombies and ghouls take over Prescott's Riverwalk District from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The screams and scares will take place at and around the clock tower, and downtown businesses will participate by decorating their shops and handing out treats to hungry zombie children.

Monster Makeovers by Kelly Bloomfield will take place by the clock tower starting at 3:00 p.m. Bloomfield will be offering special effects makeup, including scabs, scars, and blood for anyone wanting to be 'zombiefied' before the walk begins at 4:00 p.m. There is no charge for the makeup application.

"I always have fun with my kids doing crazy and scary makeup for Halloween, so when I heard about this fun community event, I definitely wanted to be involved. I have some really creepy and fun stuff for people, I hope tons of people come out and get involved in this experience!" said Bloomfield, who works as a part-time gardener for the Town of Prescott.

Martina Libby, Owner of 'Y-Knot Yoga' in Prescott, will be offering 'Zombie Yoga' sessions free of charge to adults and kids alike at 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Participants will learn some spooky relaxing moves, including Monster Mayhem, Screaming Side Neck Stretches, and Sinister Shoulder Shrugs.

"I really wanted to be part of such a great community event. Yoga is a great way to relax and build strength and confidence for both children and adults. All people need to bring is an open mind and a desire to have fun," said Libby.

Residents and guests to Prescott in the last month are sure to have seen 'The Traveling Zombie Car' making its way around town, found parked in a variety of local locations promoting the event. The '53 Chevy will be one of many vehicles present at the Classic Car Show being held during the Zombie Walk event.

The Prescott Communities in Bloom Scarecrow Contest entries will be on display throughout the event, and Zombie Walk visitors can vote for the Scarecrow of their choice. Results will be announced at the end of the event for a prize of four tickets to PumpkInferno at Upper Canada Village.

The event will also feature live entertainment and 'Trunk or Treating'. For more information, find "Prescott Zombie Walk 2017" on Facebook.
