Parking meters scare shoppers away
There are few things in life that draw out the wrath of human nature
as effectively as a parking ticket. Case and point here in Prescott is the
fact the anger of some local residents (and their illegally parked cars)
was enough to chase Prescott's previous ticket issuer from her job with
the Corps of Commissionaires.
Since council made the move to step up enforcement of downtown parking
bylaws, there are few who have escaped a simple stop to the bank without
returning to their vehicle to find a $3 postcard from the Town of Prescott.
Yellow tags have become part of the landscape in downtown Prescott on any
given day, and we wonder how long it will be before the prudence of the
current ticket ambassador drives customers away from local businesses?

Liberals smile as Reform and right wing Tories
self destruct
Even if we were a luke warm federal Liberal, or maybe a right wing Liberal,
or maybe one of the majority of Liberals in Canada who don't know why they
are Liberals, other than the fact that their great grandfather married one,
we'd be smiling our way to the House of Commons for at least two more elections.
Reason for the Liberal euphoria, of course, was the great "United
Alternative" convention held in Ottawa on the weekend in order to unite
the right and find an alternative to Liberal rule in Canada.
