Born Nov. 3, 1921 in Edwardsburgh Township, she was the daughter of Arnold McIvor and Kathleen McIvor (nee Dove). She was married to Jerold Kavanaugh. Mrs. Kavanaugh was a life-time resident of the Cardinal and Spencerville area, and worked for many years at the Hathaway shirt factory in Prescott. She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Cardinal, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 105, Cardinal. She enjoyed playing cards, camping and spending time with her family. She also loved the company of her cat Smokey. She is survived by her children: Joanne Kavanaugh, Ritchie (Merushe), Steve (Tracey) and Tim (Gloria), all of Cardinal; her brother Alton (Nina) McIvor of Brockville and her sister Donna (Lloyd) Dillabough of West Brook; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Madeline Kavanaugh; brothers Bernard and Lloyd McIvor; and by her sons Wayne and Randy. MARGARET MARTHA KEELER Margaret Martha Keeler, Sherwood Park Manor, Brockville, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 at her residence. She was 101. She was born Oct. 15, 1900 at London, England, the daughter of William James Quadling and Jessie Simpson Coutts. She married Albert Paul Keeler March 1,1930 at Digby, Nova Scotia. She was a member of the Red Cross, Women's Institute and the Church Guild. Mrs. Keeler worked as a homemaker at home. Mrs. Keeler is survived by her daughter Joyce (Mrs Tut McKinnon); granddaughters Victoria Anne McKinnon and Margaret Gabrielle McKinnon; and by great granddaughter Alana Krista Hamelin. She was predeceased by her parents and husband, two sisters, Jessie (Cis) and Florence (Flo); and by four brothers: William (Will), Arthur, Robert(Bob) and Edward. Visitation took place at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002. The funeral service was held in the chapel of the funeral home Aug. 19 at 2 pm, with Rev. Michael Pollesel officiating. A committal service followed at Maynard Cemetery. The pall bearers were Timothy McKinnon, Steve McKinnon, Willy McKinnon and Tyler McKinnon. VERDA IRENE KINCAID Verda Irene Kincaid died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001 at the age of 89. She was a resident of the Mayfield Retirement Centre in Prescott. She was born March 4, 1912 in Clearwater, Manitoba, a daughter of Robert Gardiner and Isabelle (Duncan) Gardiner. She moved with her family to the Kirkton, Ontario area in 1914, and subsequently to Simcoe, Ontario in 1927. She attended Hamilton Normal College and taught elementary school in Simcoe. She and her husband, Thomas Garfield Kincaid, were married Aug. 1, 1936. They moved to Prescott in 1939, when he became the supervisor of wartime contracts at Dominion Lighthouse Depot. In 1949 he and Mrs. Kincaid founded Prescott Paper Products Ltd. Mrs. Kincaid was active in the community, serving in a variety of organizations. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church where she was on the altar guild. She led the First Prescott Cub Scout pack for many years, and she was a member of the Grenville County Historical Society. She served as a volunteer worker at Brockville General Hospital and was active in the Ostomy Association. She was a member of the Prescott Golf Club and the Prescott Curling Club. She is survived by her brother Harold Gardiner, of Lemberg, Saskatchewan, and her sister Elizabeth McIntosh, of Whitby, Ontario; one son, Thomas Gardiner Kincaid and his wife, Elizabeth Streb Kincaid of Lexington, Massachusetts; two grandsons, Thomas John Kincaid, and his wife Linda, of North Andover, Massachusetts, and Colin Streb Kincaid, of Boulder; Colorado; one grand daughter, Elizabeth Gardiner Johnson, and her husband Kevin, of Bedford, Massachusetts; and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Garfield, and by three children in their infancy, Elizabeth Ann, Gertrude Ann and Alexander Duncan. DOREEN MARY KINGHORN Doreen Mary Kinghorn, 9501 Branch Rd., RR 2 North Augusta, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002 at St. Vincent de Paul Hospital, Brockville. She was 69. She was born Dec. 10, 1933 at Windsor, Ont., the daughter of John Watson and Maude Culver. She married Art Kinghorn Feb. 7, 1953 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Garretton. Mrs. Kinghorn is survived by her husband Art; sons: Steve (wife Gail), Greg (wife Susie), Les (friend Cindy), Brent (wife Cynthia) and Paul (friend Lisa); daughter Elly (husband Wayne Jordan); sister Jackie (Mrs. Clarence Barkley); grandchildren: Kris (wife Amy), Sean, Marissa, Matthew, Alison, Chelsea, Skye, Alexis and Daryl; great grandchild Mason; brother-in-law Allan Kelso; cousins Bob and Mary Culver, as well as many other cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Mildred Kelso. Mrs. Kinghorn's main interests were the community and church, sewing, crafts and her family. She worked as a homemaker at home. WILLIAM FRANKLIN "BILL" KINGSTON William Franklin "Bill" Kingston, a lifetime resident of the area, died at Brockville General Hospital Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 at the age of 65. He had been residing at RR 3 Prescott. Mr. Kingston was born in Ventnor Nov. 16, 1936, the son of Delbert Kingston and Helen Peters, who predeceased him. He married Elaine O'Brien May 9, 1959 at the Sacred Heart manse, Cardinal. Mr. Kingston had been employed as a roads superintendent for the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. He is survived by his wife Elaine, sons Paul (Joan) of RR 1 Cardinal and Greg (Sharon) of RR 2 Iroquois; daughter Cheryl Kingston of Arden and her friend Pete Baker; brothers Jim (Bev) of Thunder Bay and Rick (Rosalyn) of Fort McMurray, Alberta; sisters Betty Ward of RR 3 Prescott, Audrey (Bill) McCully of Prescott and Rhea Cooper of Brockville. He will be sadly missed by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. HELGA EMMA KOSLOWSKY Helga Emma Koslowsky, of 7 Riverview Cres., Prescott, a co-owner and vice-president of Seaway Motors, died at her home Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002. She was 72. She was born April 16, 1929 in Germany, the daughter of Franz Czaja and Erna Czaja. She married Willie Koslowsky Aug. 20, 1949 at Wunsdorf, Germany. She is survived by her daughter, Petra Harris (friend, Ron Barrington), grandsons Jason and Matthew; niece Monica Linke, and great niece Nadine Linke. Mrs. Koslowsky was predeceased by her parents and husband. Mrs. Koslowsky came to Prescott in 1954 with her daughter to join her husband Willie who had arrived a year earlier. She worked with her husband in their various enterprises: Willie's Gas Station, American Motors, Rambler, Western Tire and Seaway Motors. Mrs. Koslowsky battled cancer in 1978 and had heart by-pass surgery in 1994. Her interests included family, friends, swimming, gardening and travelling with her husband. Visitation was at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, where the funeral was held in the chapel Feb. 6 at 11 am. A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z BERNIE LAFONTAINE Bernie Lafontaine, a resident of RR 2 Williamsburg for the past six years, died suddenly at Winchester hospital Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002. He was 61. He was born Feb. 26, 1941 in Ottawa to Rene Lafontaine and Helena Lafontaine (nee Monaghan). Mr. Lafontaine was born raised and lived in Ottawa until 1987, when he moved to the Morrisburg area. He worked as a stationary engineer with the RCMP until his retirement in 1995. A member of the South Dundas Trappers Association, he was an avid outdoorsman who had a keen interest in hunting, trapping, fishing and wildlife. He was the loving companion of Muriel McLean. Mr. Lafontaine is also survived by his children: John (Donna), Shannon Lafontaine and Sarah Lafontaine, all of Ottawa; and brothers and sisters: Rene (Marge) of Johnstown, George of Montreal, Ed (Debbie) of RR 1 Morrisburg, Rich (Mado) of RR 3 Prescott, Phil (Sonya) of RR 3 Prescott, Gloria Levere of Cardinal, Audrey (Eldon) Strong of Nova Scotia, Vera Smith of Ottawa and Joan (Gerry) Pollex of Ottawa. Mr. Lafontaine will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Scott, Todd and Anick Lafontaine. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. EVA JUNE LANDON Eva June Landon, 480 Hyde St., Prescott, died March 15, 2002 at Ottawa General Hospital. She was 64. She was born Aug. 20, 1937 at Kemptville to Harold Christie and Mabel Fader. She married Sherman Landon June 15, 1974 at Prescott. Mrs. Landon is survived by her husband Sherman; sons Joseph (Linda) of Inkerman and Brian (Donna) of Johnstown; daughters Joyce (Kevin) of Mountain and Barb of Prescott; many grandchildren; sisters Louise (Mrs. George Berry) of North Gower, Shirley (Mrs. Randy Wilson) of Osgoode, Audrey Beach and Phyllis Christie, both of Kemptville, Darlene (Mrs. Albert Deyo) of Domville; brothers Garry (Dian) of Kemptville and Ray (Shirley) of Cochrane Alberta. She was the beloved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Landon was predeceased by her parents and by sisters Mildred and Iola and brothers Grenville, Gordon, Derwin and Sherman. Her interests included crafts, sewing, spending time with her family and playing on the computer. She worked as a homemaker at home. BEATRICE HELEN LEAMAN Beatrice Helen Leaman died peacefully at Brockville General Hospital Friday, May 3, 2002. She was 79. She was born March 5, 1923 in Bourgette, Quebec. She married William (Bill) Leaman June 6, 1942 in Kingston. They enjoyed 47 years of loving marriage and they shared a closeness and love for each other that will remain for an eternity. He predeceased her in 1989. She was predeceased by her parents, Omer Bissonnette and Helen Alcock; her three-year-old daughter Bonnie; brothers Ernie and Robert Bissonnette and a sister, Dorothy Howard. She is survived by brothers John, Art and Alan Bissonnette of Brockville; Donald of Rochester, N.Y.; and sister-in-law Irene (the late Lloyd Williams) of Smiths Falls. Mrs. Leaman is also survived by her loving daughter Gloria (Mrs. Michael Lawrence) of Prescott; She will be sadly missed and forever loved by her two grandchildren, Kristina Lawrence (Rob Carr) of Maynard, and Jason Lawrence (Janice Davis) of Ottawa. Mrs. Leaman was blessed to share six years with her first great grandchild, Spencer Cook, who will miss her dearly, as will her extended family of great grandchildren, Ronica Mazur and MacKenzie Carr. Mrs. Leaman worked at Parke Davis and later with her husband and daughter at Bill Leaman Sewing Centre in Brockville. She lived with her daughter and her family for the past 13 years. She soon became known to both her grandchildren's friends, simply as "Nan," and as one friend described: "she simply is the best Nan anyone could ever ask for." She quickly found wonderful new friends and enjoyed her daily walks downtown and remained very active, enjoying her love of life and spoiling her family with her love and caring nature. ORILLE JOSEPH LEBLANC Orille Joseph LeBlanc, River Road East, Cardinal, died peacefully Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Wellington House Nursing Home, Prescott. He was 88. Mr. LeBlanc was born Jan. 19, 1914 in Williamstown, Ont. to Alex LeBlanc and Virginia Bray. He was married to Martha Benton. Mr. LeBlanc worked as a farmer, and he was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church, Cardinal. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Leon, Romeo, Leo, Armand, Marie Rose, Marie Kathleen and Grace, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, and brothers Hector, Eugene, Lawrence and Alphonse. GERALD ARTHUR LEROUX Gerald Arthur Leroux, 116 Birch St. Gananoque, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Kingston, following a six-month battle with cancer. He was 66. Mr. Leroux was born Oct. 31, 1935 in Cornwall, the son of Joseph Arthur Leroux and Louise Anna Murphy. He married Darlene Dorthy Trudell July 25, 1959 in Cornwall. He had been retired for the past six years following a career with the Pittsburgh Penitentiary as a correctional services food service supervisor. He moved to Gananoque in Oct. 1986. Mr. Leroux was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Leroux was a dedicated family man, and he had enjoyed his career and the company of his colleagues. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as gardening and fishing, and volunteered for the St. Joseph's School breakfast program. Mr. Leroux is survived by his wife Darlene; sons Marc Leroux (Angela) of Kingston, Steven Leroux (Sandra) of North Augusta and Jay Leroux of Gananoque; daughters Polly Ruigrok (Bill) of Roebuck and Tracy Edwards (Chris) of Kanata; brothers Donald Leroux of Hull, Quebec, Roy Leroux of Inverary, George Leroux of Surrey, B.C., Allan Leroux of Orleans and Bernie Leroux of Cornwall; sisters Jacqueline Arseneault of Ottawa and Norma Brisson of Cornwall; half brothers Gary Leroux and Michael Leroux, both of Toronto; and half sister Judy Leroux of Toronto. ROY JOSEPH LETTS Roy Joseph Letts of Kemptville died Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Bayfield Manor. He was 84. He was born Sept. 12, 1917 in Madoc, Ontario. He served overseas in Belgium, Holland, Germany and France in World War II with the Governor General Footguards. He met Violet Edna Terry in Birmingham, England and they were married Dec. 20, 1943. Mr. Letts resided in Kemptville for 48 years, and he also lived in Carleton Place and Franktown. The couple enjoyed camping at Pike Lake in Perth, Ontario for 25 years. Mr. Letts is survived by his sons, Terry (Crystal), Howard (Linda) and Roy Jr.; daughters Donna Cooper and Josie (Carl) Payne; and his sister Edna Watkins of Norwood, Ont. He was the cherished grandfather of Kevin, Christopher, Mark, Shawn and Jason, and the great-grandfather of Darren, Lindsay, Cameron and Kaitlyn. He was predeceased by his loving wife Violet Terry, his son Frederick (at four days old, born May 18, 1951), and three brothers, Kenneth, Earl and Gordon. ROY LINDSAY Roy Lindsay, a passionate sports fan, died at Brockville General Hospital Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 in his 79th year. He was born in Prescott Dec. 11, 1923. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and golf. In his later years, he enjoyed making small wooden furniture. His main interest was his family. Mr. Lindsay served five years in the Royal Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic during WWII. After the war, Mr. Lindsay was employed for 30 years as an auto mechanic and service manager at A. L. McAuley's Garage in Prescott. He was also a Commissionaire at DuPont for 14 years. A dedicated Master Mason, Mr. Lindsay received his 50-year pin this year from Central Lodge No. 110. He was Worshipful Master in 1958, Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge of Canada in the province of Ontario in 1976 and was a life member of Nation Lodge No. 556 since 1999 in Spencerville. He was Principal of Grenville Chapter No. 22 RAM in 1959, and long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Lindsay was Worthy Patron from 1957-58. Mr. Lindsay is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Marion. He was the dear father of Cheryl Smith (John) of Elgin and Bonnie Studer (Bruno) of Basel, Switzerland; cherished grandfather of Darren (Diane) Smith of Kingston, Sheri (Troy) Jenner of Guelph and Ryan Studer of Basel, Switzerland; proud great grandfather of Jason and Abigail Smith; brother of Jean (Mrs. Jack Saunders), Dorothy (Mrs. Earl Moulton) and Ann Smith; and brother-in-law of Reta Lindsay, all of Prescott. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth; brothers Bert and Jim; a sister Ruby and brother-in-law Don Smith. Burial will be held at the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery in the spring. JAMES FREDRICK LOCKETT James Fredrick Lockett, Wellington House, Prescott, died Sunday, March 31, 2002 at his residence. He was 84. Mr. Lockett was born July 19, 1917 at Kingston, Ont., the son of Garnet Lockett and Lorene Douglas. He married Marjorie Lockett (nee Hunt) June 15, 1944 at St. John's, Newfoundland. He had been employed as a life insurance salesman, and also owned and operated the Prescott Bowling Alley and a gas station in Prescott. His interests included his family, fishing and playing cards at the Legion until his sight failed. Mr. Lockett is survived by his sons Robert (Linda) of Prescott, Steve (Ruthe) of Prescott, Tom (Rosemary) of Orleans and John (Gisele) of Kanata; grandchildren Dave (wife Riki), Stacey (husband Ravi Shinh), Shawn (wife Lisa), Amy, Jeremy, Geoffrey, Melinda, Lance and Angele; and his brother David of Kingston. She was born July 18, 1899 in Fontnell, Gaspé, Quebec, to Pauldore Stanley and Mary Stanley. She married Roger Marchand Sept. 3, 1931 in Montreal. He predeceased her in 1975. Mrs. Marchand has previously resided in South Mountain, and worked as a homemaker in her own home. She was a member of St. Peter's Anglican Church, South Mountain. Mrs. Marchand is survived by her children, Muriel Black of Philipsburg, Quebec, Gladys Gates of Prescott and Gordon (Sonny) and his wife Sylvia Marchand of Spencerville. She was the grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and sister of Ivan Stanley of Gaspé and Hillary of Quebec. She was predeceased by her parents; son Joseph Marchand, four sisters and three brothers. GEORGE DOUGLAS MARRINER George Douglas Marriner, a life-time resident of Cardinal and area, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002 at Brockville General Hospital. He was 59. Mr. Marriner was born Feb. 1, 1944 in Dundela, Ont., the son of Gordon Marriner and Agnes Marriner. He married Cheryl Phillimore of Cardinal April 25, 1997 in Cornwall. Mr. Marriner attended Benson Public School and South Grenville District High School. He worked for 39 years at CASCO in Cardinal in the wet and dry starch department, as a lab operator and on the mail route. He retired in May. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Cardinal, served as an altar boy in his youth, and was a choir member. Mr. Marriner was a member of the Cardinal Fire Department for nine years, and a member of UFP Local 483. Mr. Marriner was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed cooking, travelling and his two shelties, Elsa and Nash. He enjoyed many good times with his family and friends, and he was especially attentive to his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Todd and Tonya Marriner, both of Ottawa; and stepchildren Todd, Tyler and Tommy DesChamps and Diana Lee Johnston. He was the brother of Jayne Cleary, Robert and his wife Lynn, Brenda and her husband Raymond Jones, all of ottawa, Joan and her husband Bill Dove of Cardinal, Elizabeth Marriner of Elma, Helen and her husband Eric Hutt, Gordon and his wife Sherry, all of Brockville, Barbara and her husband Douglas Rylands of Niagara Falls and Deborah and her husband Robert McIver of Red Deer, Alberta. He was the grandfather of Alyssa, Devon, Shelby, Cole, Emily and Erin. He will be sadly missed by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. RENE JOSEPH MATHIEU, Rene Joseph Mathieu, a long-time resident of Cardinal, died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002 at Brockville General Hospital. He was 89. He was born Jan. 2, 1913 in Sorel, Quebec, to Adelard Mathieu and Elma Grenier. He married Rose Lanieu Dec. 2, 1929 in Cardinal. Mr. Mathieu had lived in Cardinal since moving from Sorel, and had been employed as a labourer at CASCO for more than 40 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Cardinal. He is survived by his wife Rose; daughter Janice and her husband Elwood McNeilly of Cardinal; grandchildren Michelle and her husband Karl McLaughlin of Kingston and Allan and his wife Tiffany of Prescott; great grandchildren Ashley, Hillary and Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Leo, Lucien and John and by sisters Lucienne and Roma. DOLORES ETHEL MAVILLE Dolores Ethel Maville, 328 Henry St. W., Prescott, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at Brockville General Hospital. She was 69. She was born Sept. 17, 1932 in Cardinal, the daughter of Smith Baldwin and Ethel Murphy. She married Bill Maville Feb. 27, 1965 at St. Mark's Church, Prescott. Mrs. Maville is survived by her husband Bill; her sons David (wife Lynn) and Stephen; brothers Wes (wife Betty) Baldwin and Conrad (wife Jean) Baldwin; nieces Barbara Anderson, Colleen Heward, Cathy Schaeffer and Cindy Baldwin; nephews Bob, John, Jeff, Clancy and Geoffrey Baldwin; brother-in-law Tom Maville and his wife Shirley; niece Krystina; and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Howard and Leeland. Mrs. Maville enjoyed camping and travelling, and she was an area volunteer for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts groups, as well as minor hockey. She was known as the Pin-Lady. CATHERINE MCAULEY Catherine McAuley, of Mayfield Retirement Residence in Prescott, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Brockville General Hospital. She was 95. She was born Sept. 25, 1906 at Watertown N.Y., the daughter of Rudolph Johnson and Susan McCartin. She married John Franklin McAuley Oct. 18, 1927 at Spencerville. Mrs. McAuley is survived by her daughter Helen (Mrs. Hal Stefl); her son Leslie (wife Diane), 13 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband Jack; her son John McAuley; her daughters Noreen Burwell and Mary Ann McAuley; a grandson and a great grand daughter, and her brother Harold Johnson. Mrs. McAuley was a member of the Catholic Women's League for 58 years, and with her husband operated the McAuley Motel in Johnstown from 1953 till 1970. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Owers, formerly of Cardinal; and the loving father of Kathy (Chris) of St. Catharines, Patti (friend, Terry) of Bridgewater, N.S., and Greg (Peggy) of Queen's Cove, N.S. She was born in Cumberland, Ont., March 1, 1918. She married Alton McIvor, and they were married for 55 years. She had been a long-time resident of Roebuck. MAX MEYER Max Meyer, 1603 Bradley Cres., RR 1 Prescott, died suddenly Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 at Kingston General Hospital. He was 87. He is the beloved husband of Edith Richter and the late Anna Marie Baier; dear father of Esther (Ken) Duvall of Mariatown, Erwin (Marianne) of Stouffeville and Jane (Marcel) Turpin of Orleans; grandfather to Monica, Brenda, Brigitte and Hollie Duvall, Mark, Brent and Andrea Meyer, Sally and Andre Sickman; great grandfather to Jordyn, Allie and Sam Bruce; and step-father to Wolfgang, Bernd and Wilfrid Richter. Mr. Meyer was predeceased by his parents; daughter-in-law Ilona Meyer; great grandson Joshua William Bruce; sisters Martha and Emily; and brother Ernest. He was born April 22, 1914 in Switzerland to Ernst Meyer and Emma Studer. Mr. Meyer immigrated to Canada in 1949, and was a carpenter by trade and he also farmed. He was quite independent and strong, both in a physical sense and in his will. He was a doer, not a talker, and a proud and proper man. Mr. Meyer was optimistic and positive, always looking for the good in others and regarded the best side of people. Mr. Meyer married Anna Marie Baier March 25, 1943. They eventually arrived in Williamsburg, where he bought and began working the old Merkley farm. Besides working the dairy farm, he also worked for Black Lumber and for Stewart and David Byers of Chesterville. After losing Mrs. Meyer to cancer in 1980, he sold the farm and moved to Morrisburg. He married Edith June 18, 1983 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Morrisburg and they have resided in Prescott. Mr. Meyer enjoyed downhill skiing, played the clarinet and loved to dance. He enjoyed motorcycling as well as gardening. Friends were received at the Parker Funeral Home, Morrisburg. Miller, a long-time Prescott businessman who resided at 458 Ann St., Prescott, died at his home Sunday, March 17, 2002. He was in his 88th year, and his health had deteriorated rapidly in recent weeks. He was born April 14, 1914 at Middlesex, Vermont, U.S.A., to Guy I.S. Miller and Laura Miller (nee Noak). The family moved to Clarenceville, Quebec when he was three months old. From 1930 to 1947 he farmed in Clarenceville and Huntingdon, Quebec. In 1947 Mr. Miller moved to Prescott and operated a tea room and soda bar on King Street with his wife Irene (nee Darby) and his father Guy until 1952. He then started a real estate and insurance business under the name Irving H. Miller Ltd. He operated this business for 30 years and retired in 1982. His life centered around his family, home, business and friends. For 30 years he and his wife spent summers at their cottage on the St. Lawrence River. He also enjoyed curling, golfing, lawn bowling and shuffleboard. He was an avid fan of the Ottawa Senators. The couple wintered in Florida for several years and also enjoyed travelling together. Mr. Miller was a member of Amity Lodge No. 80 and delivered Meals on Wheels for 19 years. He was also a dedicated visitor to shut-ins at nursing homes and hospitals. He had a good sense of humour and his warm, compassionate ways endeared him to many. He is survived by his wife Irene; son Guy Miller (wife Shirley) of Paris, Ont.; daughters Wanda Wilson of Prescott and Joan (Rick Linnen) of Athens, Ont. He was the cherished grandfather of Steven (Jill) Durant, Cynthia Durant, Dr. Carol Miller (Paul), Patti (Scott Boug), Lynne (Robert Shier), Diane (Dan Rutherford), David Miller (wife Erica), Nancy (Nino Dettorre) and Rodney Linnen (wife Christine). He will be sadly missed by his great grandchildren Daniel, Brandon and Holly Durant, Ethan and Alexander Chilcott, Trianna and Talia Boug, Mitchell and Katelyn Shier, Kylie, Isaac and Samuel Miller, Melissa and Michael Dettorre, Ethan and Jacob Linnen. She was born Jan. 1, 1924 in Kemptville, Ont., the daughter of George Utman and Marguerite Janack. She married Charles Miller Sept. 19, 1944 in Prescott. Mrs. Miller is survived by her sons, Harlow (Mary), George (Gail), Carl (Dolly) and Ray; daughters, Donna and Cindy; and grandchildren, Robert (wife Lori), Mitch (wife Emily), Nicole (husband Shaun Iacurci), Mike (wife Karen), Michelle (friend Tim Nichols), Barbara, Richard, Jason and Ian Miller. She was the great grandmother of Cole, Faith, Devan, Braedon and Katie. She was predeceased by her husband Charles on Oct. 25, 2002; her brother Stanley Utman; and sisters Lillian Sangster, Pearl Utman, Lila Utman, Iva Armstrong, Rose Pitman and Isabel Galbraith. MARGARET VICTORIA MINISH (NEE KINCH) Margaret Victoria Minish (nee Kinch) died peacefully at her home in North Augusta Thursday, May 30, 2002. She was 90. She was born in Wolford Township May 16, 1912, the daughter of the late Asman Kinch and Margaret Corr. She married Kenneth Minish Dec. 16, 1931 at St. Peter's Anglican Church Rectory. Mrs. Minish worked on the family farm where she raised her family, and worked later for several years at Brockville General Hospital in the laundry. After the couple sold the farm in 1975, they moved to Maynard where they lived until 1982, when they moved to North Augusta. Mrs. Minish had a great love for gardening and flowers, and in her later years enjoyed going for drives. She was the dear mother of Phyllis Pimperton of North Augusta; Hazel Shanks (Wilbert) of Elgin, Bill Minish (Sharon) of Frankville and mother-in-law of Dorothy Minish of Morrisburg. She is fondly remembered by nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth; son Cecil; son-in-law Gerald Pimperton; great-granddaughter Victoria; sisters Grace Ferguson, Blanche Hart and Sarah Edwards; and brothers Clifford, Ells, James and John. She was born in Prescott July 16, 1919, the daughter of Russell Toupin and Ethel Sweeney. She married Kenneth Moore June 7, 1942. Mrs. Moore is survived by her sister Jean Alberry; sisters-in-law Laura Leonard, Vera Anderson, Veva Gammon and Lois Cox; brothers-in-law Eric Alberry, Gerald Cox and Jack Goodin; nieces Sheila Wells, Cecelia Kennedy, Marilyn Bailey, Diane Hicks, Patsy Crocker, Karen Arnold, Donna Gammon, Sherry Gammon and Cathy North; and nephews Wayne Carpenter, Fred Leonard, John Goodin, Craig Leonard, Larry Gammon, Brian Cox and Ken Anderson. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Moore was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth; sister Pauline Carpenter, sister-in-law Phyllis Goodin; and brothers-in-law William Anderson, Claude Leonard and Clarence Gammon. Mrs. Moore enjoyed making pickles and preserves and kahlua, and always made enough to give to family and friends. She also enjoyed their summer travels in their RV to visit friends and to shop. Mainly, Mrs. Moore worked as a housewife at home, although during WW II while her husband was in the RCAF, she worked at Smarts Hardware in Brockville. He was a wonderful father who will be dearly missed. FRED MORROW Fred Morrow of Maynard, died after a brief illness, Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002 at Brockville General Hospital. He was 77. Mr. Morrow was born Nov. 16, 1924 in Russell, Ont., the son of the late Johnston and Ethel (nee Latimer) Morrow. Mr. Morrow is survived by son Brian Morrow and daughter Sharon Crowder (Glen). He was the cherished grandfather of Jason and Pamela Crowder. He was predeceased by son James, who died Dec. 7, 1992. He was the dear brother of Gerald Morrow of Kemptville, Marjorie MacMartin (Arnold) of Oxford Mills and Lois Molyneaux (Ray) of Kanata. Visitation was held at Grant Brown Funeral Home, Rolston Chapel, Kemptville, Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002. The funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 1 pm at Oxford Mills United Church. Rev. Ted Colwell officiated. Shirley Hamilton was the organist. Interment followed at Oxford Mills Union Cemetery. Honourary pallbearers were Sterling Laffin, Herb Massey, John Prodonick and Bill Whelan. Pallbearers were Brian Morrow, Wayne MacMartin, Dale MacMartin, Terry MacMartin, Shawn Molyneaux and Stewart Mann. CHESTER GARNET MOULTON Chester Garnet Moulton, RR 4 Spencerville, died suddenly Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at Kemptville District Hospital. He was 38 years old. He was born in Kemptville Dec. 4, 1963, the son of Joseph and Mary Moulton of Spencerville. Mr. Moulton spent his working career as a transport driver. For the past five years, he was employed with Tibbs Transport. He also loved fishing, boating and water skiing. He was the dear friend of Elaine Bergin. He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Sayeau) Moulton; daughter Danielle; brothers Garry (Lori), Alan (Donna), Greg (Mary Anne), Richard (Michelle), Mark (Angie) and sisters Joan Kingston (Paul) Julie Morasse (Daniel) and Mary Joe. He was predeceased by his brother Steven. Visitation took place at the Grant Brown Funeral Home, Purcell Chapel, Spencerville, Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002. The funeral service was held in the chapel of the funeral home Oct. 17 at 11 am, officiated by Pastor Graemme Marshall. Miriam Woodland played the keyboard for the service. The eulogy was given by Billy Smith, his co-worker. Interment followed at South Gower Cemetery. The pallbearers were his brothers Garry, Alan, Greg, Richard, Mark and his close friend Derrick Workman. Honourary pallbearers were his co-workers and friends Bill Smith, Don Merkley, Brandon Smith, James Holmes, Chris Tate, Blair Reilly, Bill Holmes, Ernie Gagnon and Robin Workman.
