Walter Engelhardt, a resident of 3612 County Road 2, Prescott, who loved the outdoors, died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at Brockville General Hospital. He was 80.
Mr. Engelhardt was born Oct. 23, 1922 in Barringen, Czechoslovakia, the son of Franz Engelhardt and Marie Klemm. He married Anna Marie Engelhardt (nee Lanz) May 15, 1948 in Germany.
He is survived by his wife Anna Marie; son Frank (wife Gayle); grandchildren Robert Engelhart (fiance Barbara Bell), Chantel Engelhart, and Kory Brontmire; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Frank and Anton; and sisters Millie Bocsy and Adel Mina.
Mr. Engelhardt's favourite interests were mountain hiking, downhill and cross country skiing, gardening and traveling.
He had been employed as a sheet metal worker in the construction industry.
Visitation took place Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, where the funeral service was held in the chapel April 23 at 11 am. Pastor T. Kuhlman officiated. Cremation was at Cataraqui Crematorium. Interment will be at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.

Dorothy H. Fisher (nee Ewart) died peacefully Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Centre, Ogdensburg, N.Y., with her family by her side, following a lengthy and debilitating illness.
She was the dearly loved "Aunt Hon" of Barbara and Gary Davis; Tom and Joan Ellacott of Brockville; Bob and Patti Ellacott of Maitland; Linda and Butch Spencer of Prescott; Robert and Jean Thomson of Arnprior; Bill and Faye Thomson of Utica, N.Y.; and Raymond and Lorna Ewart of Ogdensburg. She is also survived by her very caring sister-in-law, Thelma Ewart of Ogdensburg.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; brothers Norman, Lawrence and Reginald Ewart; and sisters Marion Thomson and Gladys Ellacott; and several nephews.
Mrs. Fisher was born in Prescott Jan. 7, 1915 to the late George Ewart and Jean Gladstone. She was raised and attended school in Prescott, and on Nov. 10, 1933, she married Robert Fisher of Ogdensburg, where she and her husband both worked for many years at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Centre.
She retired to Florida in Feb. 1977. They spent their summers at the family cottage near Maitland. In March 2002, she returned to Ogdensburg due to ill health, and was a resident at United Helpers Nursing Home there. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ogdensburg, and St. John's Episcopal Church.
During their summers, she and her husband attended St. James Anglican Church in Maitland, and she was an active and devoted member of the Episcopal Church Women of Grace Church in Port Orange, Florida.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, May 24, at St. James Anglican Church, Maitland, followed by a combined interment with her husband Robert and sister Gladys at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.
Donations to the charity of your choice would honour her caring spirit. Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, N.Y.
Emaline Mary Christina Fletcher, of Wellington House Nursing Home, Prescott, died following a brief illness at her residence Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003. She was 85.
She was born in Cardinal Oct. 21, 1917 to Andrew Stark and Eliza Morris, and resided much of her life in Cardinal. She married Arnold Fletcher at the Presbyterian Manse in Cardinal, and she was a member of St. Andrew's and St. James Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Ladies, the Cardinal Community Choir and the St. Andrew's and St. James Choir.
Mrs. Fletcher had been employed as a payroll clerk at the Canada Starch Co. in Cardinal.
She is survived by her stepson John and his wife Wendy Fletcher of Toronto, and their children David, Tim and Janet. She was the special aunt of Grace Scott, Jim and Hazel Stark, Morris and Dorothy Stark, William and Marilyn Murray, and Earle and Betty Fletcher and their families. She was a special friend of Doris Coons.
Mrs. Fletcher was predeceased by her husband; her parents; sisters Bella Livings and Dorothy Clark; and a brother, James Stark.
Friends called at Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home, Cardinal, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, where the funeral took place Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 2 pm. Rev. Geoffrey Howard officiated. Spring interment will be at St. Andrew's and St. James Riverside Cemetery, Cardinal.
Harold George Francis, of Mayfield Retirement Residence, Prescott, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Brockville General Hospital. He was 86.
Mr. Francis was born May 13, 1916 in Edwardsburgh Township, the son of Alexander Francis and Ethel Hess. He was married to Norma Francis (nee Dier) for 63 years.
He is survived by his wife Norma; sister Jennie Rupert; sister-in-law Helen Saunders; aunts Effie McGrath, Helen Noffke and Winona Halpenny; and a nephew, nieces and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son Garry; his parents; brothers Orval and Ray; and a niece, Ruth Rupert.
Mr. Francis enjoyed training and racing horses, and had been a farmer at Hyndman. He moved to Spencerville and drove a Canada Bread truck, then moved to Prescott and worked as a guard at the RCA plant.
Visitation was at Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, Monday, March 24, 2003. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Blair Paterson in the chapel of the funeral home March 25 at 2 pm. Fraser Carr sung "How Great Thou Art." Mr. Francis' niece, Gloria MacMahon, gave the eulogy on his life, and Louis Gilchrist spoke on his love of horses.
A committal service will take place later in the spring at South Gower Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Seeley Pillar, Bruce Pankhurst, Louis Gilchrist, Reg Earl, Spencer Baynham, Joe Fahrngruber, Foch Healy, Carl Montgomery, Arnold Grant and Mansel Grant.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Roof Fund.
Robert Gordon Fraser, a resident of Brockville, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003 at Brockville General Hospital. He was in his 75th year.
He was born Sept. 30, 1928 in Prescott, the son of John Fraser and Vera Perrin. He married Joan Fraser (nee Preston) Sept. 5, 1949 in Brockville.
He is survived by his wife Joan; his daughter Diane (Mrs. Henry O'Hare); sons Gordon (wife, Sue), David (wife, Laurie) and Randy (wife, Darlene); grandchildren Scott McDonald, Shelley Rossetti, Liz McLean, Sarah Kijewski, Stacy Lemieux, Lisa, Ryan, Justin, Cody and Chelsea Fraser. He was the great grandfather of Brieanna and Kallie McLean, Alisha, Sophia and Olivia Rossetti. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Locke.
Mr. Fraser was predeceased by his parents.
His main interests included his family, hunting, fishing, camping and wood-working. He was employed as a packer at Canada Starch for 33 years. Mr. Fraser enjoyed his way of life, and he could often be heard whistling a hymn while he was busy.
Visitation took place Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003 at Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, where a private funeral service was held in the chapel Sept. 19 at 2 pm. Rev. Bev Lindsay officiated. The committal service followed at Sandy Hill Cemetery, Prescott.
Pallbearers were Ryan, Justin and Cody Fraser, Ken Rossetti and Ian Kijewski.

Floyd Russel Greer, a resident of Elizabethtown Township, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Brockville General Hospital. He was in his 69th year.
He was born Jan. 26, 1934, at North Augusta, the son of Wellington Greer and Eleanor Miess. He was married to Irene Greer (nee Seeley).
Mr. Greer is survived by his wife Irene; son Richard (wife Gwen); daughter Brenda Greer; brothers Earl (wife Freda) and Roy; grandchildren Sarah and Jenna; several nieces and nephews; and close friends Egbert and Judy.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Gordon and Eric; and sisters Dorothy Gardiner (Burns) and Grace Baker.
Mr. Greer spent most of his time working on cars and visiting friends at the mall and Tim Hortons with a coffee and newspaper. He also enjoyed hunting, bingo, spending time with his family and walking his dog Snappy.
He had been employed at Canada Starch.
Visitation took place Jan. 8, 2003 at Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, where the funeral followed in the chapel at 2 pm. Rev. Blair Paterson officiated. Cremation took place at Cataraqui Crematorium Jan. 8.
In memoriam donations were directed to Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Ottawa.
Eric Walter Greer, a resident of RR 5 Spencerville who enjoyed working in the garage and helping his sons with their homes, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Brockville General Hospital. He was 70.
He was born Nov. 15, 1932 at Bishops Mills, Ontario, the son of Wellington Greer and Eleanor Miess. He married Susie Greer (nee Konkus), April 25, 1953 in Prescott.
He is survived by his wife Susie; sons Carl (wife Marilyn), Gerry and Kevin (wife Sherri); grandchildren Julie, Jennie, Jeff, Cory, Taylor, Jordan, Derick, Larry and Randi; great grandchildren Kasy and Mathew; and brothers Floyd, Roy and Earl.
Mr. Greer was predeceased by his parents; sisters Dorothy Gardiner and Grace Baker, and by brother Gordon Greer.
He had been employed as a machine operator at RCA in Prescott.
Visitation was held at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, where the funeral was held in the chapel Dec. 30 at 11 am. Rev. Blair Paterson officiated.
A committal service followed at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.
The pallbearers were Larry Greer, Derick Greer, Jeffery Greer, Cory Summers, Jeff Baker and Allan Greer.
